RDC‘s team of designers and engineers are unrivaled when it comes to custom solutions to complex problems. Take, for instance, the problem posed to us by K.D. ENGINEERING OF TUCSON, ARIZONA. Their customer, an international gold mining company, required a complete mine to be built 1,400 miles from Caracas, Venezuela. They needed the mine’s operations to be controlled in a very demanding environment – the South American Rain Forest. In addition, the equipment needed to be identified and explained in the country’s primary language, Spanish. While few other American companies wanted to deal with such complications, we at RDC rose to meet the challenge. We supplied all the electrical components including the transformers, switchgear and control to take power from the 34,500 volt highline down to the 14′ custom operations control console. The console was a unique challenge in itself and was an RDC first. Housed in a 40′ steel building, this became our first “modular” controller, of many in the future. When the mining project was completed at this site, they were able to transport it to another location.
